Spring is a good time to start hanging out outside with friends and family. The weather starts getting warmer and plants start removing their winter coats. Unfortunately, millions of people in the world get affected by seasonal allergies that the common symptoms are cough, runny nose, and itchy eyes.
These allergies are caused by the releasing of pollen and spores in the air due to the plants and mold growth cycle.
Few Essential Oils can be used as a remedy to reduce or even stop these symptoms.
- TARRAGON or Artemisia dracunculus : Better known for culinary purposes than for medicinal properties. The name is derived from the Greek and Latin. Artemisia is for the Greek Goddess Artemis and dracunculus is from the Latin for “little dragon”.
USE: Few drops on a tissue to be sniffed throughout the day. Also, few drops on the pillow at night to help breathing.
- EUCALYPTUS RADIATA: The origin is from Australia. The medical properties are antibacterial, antiviral, expectorant, and anti-inflammatory.
USE: One drop of Eucalyptus Radiata mixed with 6 drops of pure carrier oil (argan oil, almond oil etc.) Rub the mix on your chest, throat, neck. Adding a few drops on a tissue to sniff throughout the day will help also.
- GERMAN CHAMOMILE or Chamomilla recutita: The origin is from Europe and North Africa. The medical properties are antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antitumoral, relaxant, anesthetic.
USE: 2 drops of German Chamomile mixed with 8 drops of pure carrier oil. Rub on your forearms two times per day.
A blend of Essential Oils can also be made to treat seasonal allergies:
- 1drop of Roman Chamomile
- 2 drops of Geranium
- 3 drops of Lavender
Add a pure carrier oil to the blend(50/50). Rub 6 drops of the blend on your chest 3 times per day.
Now you are prepared to enjoy outdoor activities. Have fun!
